What to expect at the Four Seasons Maldives resorts

Kuda Huraa, Landaa Giraavaru and Voavah private island

When it comes to luxury in the Maldives, Four Seasons doesn’t do things by halves. Over the course of my trip, I had the opportunity to experience all three of their properties – Kuda Huraa, Landaa Giraavaru, and the private island of Voavah. Each one offers something entirely different, from adventure-filled days to tranquil relaxation and ultra-exclusive private island living. If you’re dreaming of a Maldivian escape, here’s what you can look forward to at these incredible resorts.

Best for wellness

From Malé airport, a quick 30-minute transfer on Four Seasons’ private boat took me to my first stop, Four Seasons Resort Maldives At Kuda Huraa. Stepping onto the jetty, I was greeted with a fresh coconut, setting the tone for what was to come. My beautifully refurbished beach villa was a real treat, designed with an extra room that could be converted for families. The outdoor space was just as impressive – a private pool leading directly onto my own patch of soft white sand.

The resort had plenty to offer. Snorkelling was a standout experience, with vibrant marine life appearing at every turn, from tropical fish to graceful rays. For dining, the Indian restaurant was an absolute highlight, packed with flavour and a lively atmosphere. We also had a private dinner at the tip of the island, a spot reserved for exclusive events – if you ever get the chance, it’s well worth doing.

A visit to the spa is a must, and getting there is an experience in itself. A one-minute boat ride takes you to an overwater retreat where treatments take place with the soothing sound of the ocean beneath you. Booking a treatment early is a good idea – the overwater spa villas are in high demand, and it’s easy to see why once you step inside.

Best for families

Next, I took the signature yellow Four Seasons seaplane for a 30-minute journey to Landaa Giraavaru. If you’ve never taken a seaplane before, this is the place to do it – the aerial views of the atolls are breathtaking. This island is bigger, with a stunning selection of both overwater and beach villas. My beach villa had everything I could ask for – a spacious outdoor area with a private pool, an extra room, and even a little nook designed like a treehouse.

The food here is another highlight. Watching the sunset from the Blu Beach Club is something I won’t forget – the colours reflecting off the water are spectacular. The Lebanese restaurant was another standout, serving incredible dishes packed with flavour. And then there’s the ice cream cart by the beach – an essential stop in the afternoon to cool off between swims.

The spa here is just as impressive as Kuda Huraa’s, with overwater treatment villas where you can completely switch off. If you’re looking for somewhere to relax, you’ll find it here. The resort also boasts some jaw-dropping multi-bedroom villas, including a stunning estate that’s perfect for groups or families.

A 30-minute boat ride later, I arrived at Voavah, Four Seasons’ exclusive-use private island. This place is on another level. With a dedicated team of 25 staff, three main buildings (a main house, an overwater villa, and a beach villa), as well as a gym and a library, it’s got everything you need for a family gathering or special event. Every room offers a front-row seat to breathtaking sunsets, and the island comes with its own boat for exploring the surrounding waters.

Speaking of boat trips, our excursion was made even more special by the dolphins that accompanied us almost the entire way – they really put on a show. Guests also get access to water sports, so there’s plenty to do if you’re feeling adventurous.

This trip was a dream from start to finish, with each island offering something unique. Whether you’re looking for a romantic escape, a family getaway, or a one-of-a-kind private island experience, Four Seasons Maldives is a top choice. If you get the chance to go, don’t hesitate – it’s an experience you won’t regret.
